Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse- $1720 per week.

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience.

• Experience with Meditech is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Louisiana license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Willis-Knighton Health System.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Ability to read cardiac strips.

Required Credentials: Must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.

Special Requests: Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously permanent staff. Up to 7 days of RTO; must extend the contract for any full week of RTO. Only 1 weekend of RTO may be requested per 13-week contract.

Unit Details: Transplant unit caring for patients awaiting transplant, recent transplant recipients, and patients with a history of transplant. Med-Surg/Telemetry patients include CHF, COPD, altered mental status, DKA, and similar diagnoses. May occasionally care for patients with chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and cardiac drips without titration; wound care as directed by WOCNs, IV initiation, and one touches. Charge nurse may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy handles peripheral blood draws only. IV/VAT team available on days with minimal night shift coverage for line placement. Resource nurse CN on each rotation; head RN, PCC, and educator on dayshift. RT specifically assigned to the unit 24/7. Hospitalist available and on call overnight. OT, PT, and ST available. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling: 3/2 schedule rotation; will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Every other weekend. No call. Will work 2 of 3 major holidays.

Floating Requirements: Float to any other units within scope of practice; travelers float first.

7 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
