PHARMACY SUPERVISOR

BOISE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

SUMMARY:

In collaboration with the SAHS Regional Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, organization, and administration of pharmacy services hospital wide, as well as working “collaboratively” with MedNow Pharmacies. Must apply principles of leadership, human relations, and continuous quality improvement in the overall coordination, supervision, development, and refinement of the pharmaceutical services.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensure as a registered pharmacist by the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.
• Graduation from an ASHP-accredited hospital residency with an advanced degree in pharmacy preferred –or equivalent qualification obtained through administrative experience.
• Membership in the ASHP or other professional memberships preferred.
• Certification through ASHRM Training Program preferred.
• Two to five years of pharmacy experience required; hospital experience preferred.
• Two years of relevant administrative experience required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Successfully executes the established plans and the services of the functional areas of responsibility through analysis, measurement and monitoring, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources.
• Utilizes an effective mix of research, analysis, expert opinion, and committee group process to develop and lead a comprehensive Pharmacy Service.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to support the patient care needs of a regional health care organization.
• Formulates and disseminates administrative plans and present therapeutic alternatives to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and pharmacy assistants. Demonstrates knowledge of corporate or institutional insurance programs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory codes, legal requirements, and healthcare law.
• Demonstrates knowledge of loss control engineering and claims administration.
• Knowledge of budgets and inventory controls.
• Demonstrated skill in planning, implementing and evaluating programs.
• Additional knowledge in current pharmaceutical technology including distribution, protocol design, monitoring and intervention.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to direct daily operations, as well as to communicate with a variety of clinical and ancillary departments. Clerical ability is necessary to prepare reports, records, and charts.
• Ability to interface with physicians, patients, and all levels of hospital personnel.
