A Day in the Life

         

         

The Associate Clinical Research Specialist supports the planning, execution, and operational oversight of clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. This role partners with internal and external stakeholders, including investigators, sites, vendors, and customers, to drive study objectives, resolve operational challenges, and support successful project delivery from design through implementation. The position may provide guidance to colleagues and contribute specialized expertise in clinical operations, stakeholder management, and process execution. In addition, the role serves as a key resource for SAP-based order management, overseeing clinical supplies, inventory, order fulfillment, issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination to support efficient study execution.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Clinical Operations & Business Support

  • Supports and executes clinical evaluation and research studies in compliance with SOPs, GCP, and applicable regulations.
  • Participates in the preparation, development, and maintenance of study documentation, including protocols, patient record forms, and other study-related materials.
  • Conducts registered and non-registered clinical studies of products that have been determined to satisfy a medical need and/or offer commercial potential.
  • Oversees and interprets results of clinical investigations in support of regulatory submissions, product development activities, and business objectives.
  • Oversees and resolves operational aspects of clinical trials in conjunction with project teams, investigators, sites, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains effective collaborations and strong working relationships with internal and external partners to support study execution, issue resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, operational efficiency, data accuracy, and customer experience through process enhancements and best practices.

Clinical Supply & Inventory Management

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for SAP order management and clinical supply operations, utilizing advanced SAP knowledge to support clinical study orders, inventory transactions, material requests, forecasting, replenishment, allocation, distribution, and other supply-related activities.
  • Process, monitor, and resolve SAP order, inventory, stock allocation, logistics, and supply chain issues to ensure timely order fulfillment and uninterrupted clinical study execution.
  • Maintain accurate clinical supply and inventory documentation, reporting, and data integrity within business systems, while partnering with cross-functional teams to support supply planning, inventory management, and study execution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice to Have

  • Extensive experience with SAP (System Analysis Program) order processing, inventory management, and business operations systems.
  • Relevant clinical experience in medtech, healthcare, or life sciences field.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end operational processes, including procurement, inventory management, order management, and distribution.
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot system and process issues, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Experience serving as a system resource or subject matter expert for SAP-related business processes.
  • Experience with order processing, inventory control, supply chain management, and data integrity/reporting for clinical studies.
  • Experience with process optimization and business systems support in SAP or similar environments. 

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$65,600.00 - $98,400.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
