Work Environment

This position is based onsite at our well-equipped hospital facility located in Roanoke, Virginia. You'll have access to state-of-the-art equipment and modality-based programs tailored to meet diverse patient needs. Our facility features modern gyms designed to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation experience, promoting not only physical recovery but also a supportive therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing therapeutic treatment plans for patients by utilizing specialized equipment and techniques.
• Conduct patient assessments to monitor progress, improve care plans, and adjust treatments as necessary.
• Evaluate and maintain patient safety while performing therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and functional activities.
• Document patient sessions accurately using point-of-service documentation technology, such as iPads, to ensure compliance and continuity of care.
• Educate patients and their families on proper techniques for exercises and safety measures to maximize rehabilitation success.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient care and recovery.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and departmental meetings to remain current with best practices in rehabilitation.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In your role as a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will primarily work with patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures, chronic illnesses, and orthopedic injuries. Our approach places a strong emphasis on the needs of elderly patients, ensuring that compassionate care is provided as they navigate the rehabilitation process. Your effective communication and patience will be critical in building rapport and trust with this demographic.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or related field is required.
• An active and valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in Virginia.
• Ability to deliver care in compliance with state and federal rehabilitation standards.
• Passion for working with elderly populations and a commitment to improving their quality of life.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with healthcare management systems such as Net Health or Casamba will be beneficial.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills proven through practical application in patient care scenarios.

Compensation and Benefits
