Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Part-time Day shift (8am - 5pm) up to 24 hours per week
Starting pay rate $32/hr. or more depending on experience
SUMMARY
The Speech Pathologist Assistant provides coordinated speech therapy assistance with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Therapy to patients of adolescent age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.
- Administers the speech therapy treatment plan as developed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
- Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities.
- Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with the education and competence to care for the patients.
- Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements
- Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary
- Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency
- Performs other related duties and activities as required.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of speech therapy assistant with a Bachelors Degree
- One year experience as a Speech Therapy Assistant with pediatrics
- Pediatric and Home Health experience preferred.
- Experience with pediatric feeding/swallowing
- Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Current Florida State License to practice speech therapy
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements:
- Travel as needed
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
