Kitchen Manager – Executive Chef Development Track
$25–$29/hour + Overtime | Approximately 50 Hours/Week | Executive Chef Career Path
Ready to take the next step from Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager into an Executive Chef role?
We are recruiting a hands-on Kitchen Manager for a growing upscale casual restaurant group. This is an hourly leadership role averaging approximately 50 hours per week, with overtime, creating annual earnings that typically reach $75,000+ depending on hourly rate and hours worked.
More importantly, this position is designed to prepare the right person for an Executive Chef opportunity within approximately 8–12 months.
You won't just assist the Executive Chef. Two days each week, you'll be responsible for running the kitchen while the Executive Chef is off. The rest of the week, you'll remain actively involved in service, expo, training, and daily kitchen operations.
What You'll Do
- Help lead a full-service scratch kitchen and BOH team of approximately 15–20 employees
- Run the kitchen two days each week in the Executive Chef's absence
- Work hands-on in the kitchen, including expo and service execution
- Coach, train, and develop cooks and culinary team members
- Assist with scheduling, ordering, inventory, food cost, and labor management
- Maintain food quality, consistency, sanitation, and safety standards
- Help build an accountable, positive kitchen culture
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or similar leadership experience
- Current experience in a full-service scratch kitchen
- Comfortable working hands-on during service
- Strong understanding of food cost, labor, inventory, ordering, and scheduling
- Proven ability to train and develop culinary employees
- Professional, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of the kitchen
- Interested in becoming an Executive Chef
- Open to future relocation is a plus as the company continues growing
Compensation & Growth
- $25–$29/hour
- Approximately 50 hours per week
- Overtime paid after 40 hours
- Typical annual earnings of approximately $75,000+, depending on hourly rate and hours worked
- Medical benefits
- Paid time off
- Structured leadership training
- Executive Chef development opportunity
- Strong internal promotion culture
The company opens approximately 4–5 restaurants each year and fills roughly 85% of leadership positions internally, creating strong advancement opportunities for high-performing leaders.
If you're already capable of running a kitchen but haven't been given the Executive Chef title yet, this could be the opportunity to take that next step.
