The Assistant Director of Nursing – CVICU/CVSD at MedStar Health provides frontline leadership for cardiovascular intensive and step-down units. This role oversees daily clinical operations, staffing, and patient flow while promoting a patient-first culture. The leader supports evidence-based practice, quality and safety initiatives, regulatory readiness, and staff development. Working collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, the Assistant Director mentors nurses, supports onboarding and education, and helps drive continuous improvement in outcomes, experience, and team engagement across the cardiac service line.
