Hematopathology Section Director
StartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $ - $
An academic Department of Pathology is seeking an experienced, board-certified and fellowship-trained hematopathologist to serve as Section Director of Hematopathology. This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide a comprehensive hematopathology service, mentor faculty, support education and research, and help shape the future of a growing section within a nationally recognized academic environment.
- Lead all aspects of hematopathology diagnostic services
- Support the section’s educational and research missions while mentoring faculty toward clinical, academic, and scholarly success.
- Participate in tumor boards, fellow education, and clinical or translational research activities.
- Balance clinical and administrative responsibilities, with a target split of approximately 70% clinical and 30% administrative duties.
- Provide strategic leadership through planning, faculty mentorship, operational improvement, and involvement in major departmental initiatives, including relocation to a new state of the art facility planned for late 2027.
- Practice within a service model that includes weeklong rotations across tissue, flow cytometry/wet hematology, bone marrow, lymph node, and backup services.
- 1:8 call, primarily telephone-based
- Qualified candidates should bring strong clinical expertise, leadership ability, academic or research experience, and a strong publication record.
