Senior Cost Accountant 

 

The Senior Cost Accountant at Premier PV leads cost accounting for high-volume manufacturing, managing standard costs, variance analysis, and inventory reconciliations. This role partners with Operations and IT to ensure BOM and routing accuracy, drives margin insights, and supports month-end close, forecasting, and budgeting. As a subject-matter expert, the Senior Cost Accountant leads cross-functional initiatives, mentors, peers, and provides actionable financial analysis to influence operational decisions and improve cost control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Partner with Operations to create and maintain standard costs and BOM/routing accuracy 

• Prepare and analyze cost variances (material, labor, overhead); investigate root causes 

• Support physical and cycle counts; reconcile inventory and ensure valuation accuracy 

• Perform cost rolls and updates; maintain costing master data in ERP 

• Lead/assist monthly close for Revenue and COGS, including journal entries, allocations, and reconciliations 

• Support quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting for COGS and margins 

• Ensure integrity of internal controls in compliance with SOX and company policies 

• Provide ad hoc analysis and participate in cross‑functional projects 

• Serve as SME for costing in ERP; partner with IT on configuration and testing 

• Lead cross‑functional initiatives to improve BOM/routing accuracy and scrap controls 

• Present margin analysis and insights to leadership; influence operational decisions 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 4–6 years of cost accounting experience in high‑volume manufacturing 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Finance acceptable); CPA or CMA a plus 

• Working knowledge of US GAAP; strong analytical skills and business judgment 

• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Viewpoint) and Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook 

• Experience in manufacturing environments with standard costing preferred
