Position Overview

Velocity Physical Therapy is actively seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Staff Physical Therapist with a focus on orthopedic care to join our dedicated team in Orlando, Florida. In this full-time, onsite position, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and treating a diverse group of patients, collaborating with families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop effective therapeutic interventions.

Work Environment

As a Staff Physical Therapist at our hospital facility, you will work closely within a supportive team environment characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources to enhance patient treatment and outcomes. We operate during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, between 9 AM and 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients within 24 hours of receiving a physician's referral, documenting reasons for any delays in accordance with medical record standards.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, obtaining necessary approvals from referring physicians to ensure an optimal recovery trajectory.
  • Execute therapeutic interventions in compliance with physician-directed protocols, using evidence-based practices in manual therapy, exercise prescription, and sports rehabilitation.
  • Supervise and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants in providing direct patient care, ensuring adherence to the Florida State Practice Act and fostering a collaborative care environment.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication with healthcare team members regarding patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to align with changing patient conditions.
  • Participate actively in Patient Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Conferences to contribute insights on patient care and treatment modifications based on clinical observations.
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress comprehensively, adhering to the documentation rules set by the PT Board and third-party payer requirements.
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training to ensure continuity and effectiveness of care post-discharge.
  • Engage in discharge planning activities to ensure a smooth transition for patients back into their environments and recommend necessary durable medical equipment to promote independence.
  • Address and report any concerns related to department equipment to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety in patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our orthopedic physical therapy patients range from post-surgical rehabilitation cases to those requiring support for chronic pain conditions or sports injuries. We cater to individuals of all ages, primarily focusing on improving mobility, reducing pain, and restoring function through individual therapy plans. Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Florida State Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
