Job Description Summary
We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2026 On-site Summer Internship program. This program is roughly 12 weeks in length and will immerse you into the culture and operations of Lonza Portsmouth.
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in how the Quality Control Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring laboratories supports product progression through the manufacturing process and deliver lifesaving pharmaceuticals to patients. You will receive training and direct experience in instrument setup and takedown, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting while working alongside experienced team members. Interns can expect to gain valuable experience performing environmental monitoring testing such as water sampling, air viable testing, surface viable testing and total particulate monitoring. Interns will also gain microbiology experience through membrane filtration bioburden testing, colony enumerations and identification techniques as well as endotoxin and total organic carbon (TOC) testing.
The internship program begins Tuesday, May 26, 2026 and ends on Friday, August 14, 2026. Potential interns must be able to commit to at least 40 hours per week throughout the duration of the summer internship.
Required Education
Completion of junior year (typically 90 credits) towards a B.S. degree in a related field
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4) required
Must currently be enrolled in BS or MS Academic Program
Must be available to begin the Internship on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

About Portsmouth
Our Lonza Portsmouth site is a clinical-to-commercial, multi-product manufacturing facility located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, only 56 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. The site, which employs over 1,700 employees, is a custom manufacturer of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins using mammalian cell culture.
