Position Summary

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment within a fast-paced, mid-to-large volume distribution or manufacturing facility. This role supports operational efficiency by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, reading schematics, conducting voltage testing, and repairing conveyor systems and other facility equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and skilled at identifying and resolving equipment failures to minimize downtime.

This is a general facilities maintenance position

What You'll Do
•    Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, machinery, and facility equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
•    Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and conveyor system issues to quickly identify root causes and implement repairs.
•    Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
•    Utilize electrical testing equipment to conduct voltage readings and diagnose electrical system issues.
•    Inspect equipment regularly for signs of wear, damage, or potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
•    Execute repairs on conveyor systems, motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, and other production equipment.
•    Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and repair documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
•    Assist with spare parts inventory management and identify replacement parts needed for repairs.
•    Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
•    Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
•    Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations to minimize operational disruptions.
•    Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to less experienced team members as need.

  • This is a general maintenance job covering all conveyors, rolling stock, electrical. Pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing and HVAC servicing, trouble shooting and other general building and facilities maintenance as assigned
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints are key to this position

      • Perform other tasks as requested by leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse conditions, including varying temperatures and elevated areas.
  • Ability to work on ladders, platforms, and in confined spaces

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Respond to conveyor malfunction or breakdown through visual or auditory inspection or as directed by Maintenance Manager. Determine likely source of malfunction and complete needed repair to minimize downtime.
  • Repair and/or replace defective shafts, bearings, sprockets, rollers, drive chains, etc., cut, replace, and retrack loose or worn belts.
  • Anticipate, remove, and replace faulty conveyor motors, determine necessary electrical and mechanical requirements.  Coordinate ordering of replacement parts with Manager.
  • Fix or replace dented warehouse storage rack uprights, cross bars, overhead doors, etc.
  • Move office furniture, prepare and paint surfaces within and outside buildings, replace lighting, etc.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends for the needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs..

• Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

• Reliable and consistent attendance.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variation, rolling equipment, and conveyors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
•    High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
•    Working knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial equipment, and maintenance practices.
•    Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
•    Experience performing voltage readings and utilizing electrical diagnostic tools.
•    Knowledge of conveyor systems, preventative maintenance programs, and equipment troubleshooting.
•    Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
•    Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
•    Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•    Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ months of warehouse experience.

•    Experience in distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or facilities maintenance environments.
•    Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$17.00 - $25.65

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
