Job description

Summary:
The Tactical Buyer operates within a Lean-driven operating environment, applying Lean principles such as standard work, problem escalation, and continuous flow to ensure reliable supply execution. Working under the guidance of a Level III Buyer, this role supports day-to-day procurement activities, including the coordination and processing of supplier returns (RMA/RTV), while maintaining discipline in transactional execution. The position focuses on stabilizing material flow, addressing short-term supply disruptions, and ensuring adherence to established processes to support overall operational performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Convert requisitions into purchase orders (PR → PO execution)
• Monitor and manage MRP exception messages (reschedules, cancellations, shortages)
• Perform basic expediting to support on-time delivery
• Track open orders and maintain ERP data accuracy, promise dates must be kept updated
• Support resolution of:
o Delivery delays
o Quality holds (basic follow-up)
• Communicate with internal stakeholders (planning, receiving, quality)
• Participate in daily QRQC Supply Chain meetings
• Comply with Site HSE and 6S requirements
• Become a Power user within LeanDNA
• Manage assigned supplier spend of $1M-$2M
• Prompt return of non-compliant parts from Suppliers (RTV/RMA)
• Interface with Commodity Management for pricing issues or supplier selection issues
• Interface with engineering and quality departments for permits or concessions
• Negotiate minor pricing, payment terms, on time accounts payable, resolve commercial dispute resolutions (e.g., obsolescence, cost recovery, quality escapes).
• Drive supplier performance improvement plans focused on On Time Delivery (OTD), quality (DPPM), responsiveness, and operational excellence.
• Manage procurement of direct and indirect materials, services, tooling, in support of production schedules with suppliers assigned.
• Proactively identify and resolve supply constraints, working closely with Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service.
• Lead root cause and corrective action activities for supplier issues, collaborating with Supplier Quality and MRB teams.
• Notify purchasing team of noted supplier risks, including financial stability, capacity constraints, Pricing disputes, compliance gaps.
• Ensure full adherence to regulatory, corporate, and customer requirements-including FAR, DFARS, ITAR, Export Compliance, Ethics, and Safran policies.
• Utilize ERP systems and procurement tools with a high degree of accuracy and discipline.
• Serve as a key contributor and subject matter expert within cross functional teams.
