Full job description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for leading operational readiness activities throughout the product development lifecycle. This role plays a critical part in shaping product designs to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficient assembly-while meeting all technical and functional requirements.

This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams from early concept planning through to production launch. While the primary focus is on introducing new products into manufacturing, this position may also support ongoing improvements and sustaining engineering efforts. The role involves developing robust, lean production processes and coordinating with site manufacturing engineers to establish efficient and scalable manufacturing operations.

  • Serve as the lead manufacturing engineer on product introduction projects from initial planning to launch.
  • Actively participate as a core member of cross-functional development teams.
  • Facilitate communication between R&D and manufacturing sites to ensure alignment on production requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing sites to define operational needs including capacity, floor space, equipment, and capital investments.
  • Design and implement lean manufacturing processes using tools such as single-piece flow, standard work, kanban, and playbooks.
  • Develop advanced production methods that ensure consistent process capability, repeatability, and reproducibility.
  • Lead and conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) to proactively address potential process risks.
  • Establish robust process controls and integrate poka-yoke (mistake-proofing) strategies to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Manage broad-scope engineering assignments independently, using sound judgment and effective project planning.
  • Travel up to 5-10% as required.
