Position Summary:
The Punch Press Setup Operator - Stampings is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up and operating die's to produce parts to rate while meeting dimensional specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and operating presses such as Bruderer, Minster, Federal, Aida, and Hovis ranging from 25 to 150 tons.
Essential Functions:
Set up dies on punch presses according to job instructions and production requirements.
Safely operate punch presses to achieve standard rates, coil changes and minor adjustments per product requirement.
Identify and troubleshoot complex product quality issues.
Follow established quality procedures and inspect parts using measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job travelers to ensure accurate setups and production runs.
Perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify products meet print specifications before leaving the production area.
Accurately record labor data in the ERP system.
Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and die trucks, to move materials, dies, and stage parts.
Prepare and maintain accurate records.
Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Assist with training employees as needed.
Perform other duties and work in other areas of the plant as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skill, Education and Experience
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools and machinery.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
Experience using precision measuring instruments and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings preferred.
Previous experience with punch press setup and operation preferred.
Compensation Information:
$24.60 per hour
