Overview
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will direct patient care of neonates according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care in collaboration with Pediatric Hospitalists and Chair of Dept. of Pediatrics. The NNP functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center credentialing committee and in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. Must be able to obtain a Delaware license to practice in field of specialty and hold a DEA upon eligibility.

Specifics
Level 1 nursery
NNP rounds daily in collaboration with pediatric hospitalist
Attend high-risk deliveries and cesarean sections
Resuscitation and stabilization of neonates
Communication and consult with tertiary care center and preparation for neonatal transport
Management of common neonatal problems, including respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, rule-out sepsis, hyperbilirubinemia
Special populations include late preterm infants and infants with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome
Respond to ED for neonates and to assist with IV placement and labs
This is a non-traditional setting for an NNP; it is challenging if coming from a NICU environment with a full team of skilled NICU staff. The candidate must be able to function independently, direct a team, and perform all skills related to resuscitation and stabilization.
A pediatric hospitalist is present for 8 hours a day and on call from home for the remainder of the 24-hour shift.
You will work with a small established team of NNPs who provide 24/7 coverage. The current model is 24 hour shifts with the occasional moonlighting shift.
The NNP call room is adjacent to L&D and functions as both office and sleep space for the NNP team.
The Director of Women‘s and Children‘s Services serves as liaison between the NNP team, Beebe Medical Group, and the hospital.
We average 60-70 births per month and 4-6 transfers per month.
Qualifications
Education/Training Requirements:
Advanced practice registered nurse.
Must hold a master‘s degree in nursing from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program .
Must be current in maintenance of NCC certification.
Must be American Heart BLS & NRP certified.
New graduates will not be considered. Minimum of 5 years‘ experience preferred.
