Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• ADN completion required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: Staffency Program - Aspirus.

Additional Details:

An interview with the unit manager may not be available prior to offer. If you do not interview with the unit manager, you may interview with a third-party clinical nurse manager.

Required Skills/Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Telemetry experience strongly preferred, including the ability to recognize and respond to basic cardiac rhythms. Experience with NIH Stroke Scale, remote telemetry monitoring, and non-titratable drips such as heparin, Lasix, and Bumex is preferred. Experience with amiodarone or Cardizem drips is a plus but not required.

Unit Details: Pediatric patient volume is exceptionally low, averaging fewer than 10 cases per year; travelers are generally not assigned pediatric patients unless they express interest in doing so. Combined Med/Surg and ICU flex unit caring for medical-surgical, stroke, and post-operative patients. Some rooms are equipped to function at an ICU level for appropriate lower-acuity critical care needs. Higher-acuity stroke patients requiring TPA or specialized procedures are transferred to a higher level of care. Unit work includes IV starts, post-operative care, stroke assessments, drain management, and wound vac management. Uses Alaris infusion pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing. Patient ratios: Days: 4–5 patients per RN, evenings (PMs): 5–6 patients per RN, nights: 6–7 patients per RN (7:1 is rare). Remote telemetry monitoring is provided, with nurses expected to interpret basic rhythms.

Shift & Scheduling: Every third weekend. Every other holiday as applicable. May be placed on call during low census periods with a 1 hour response time.

Floating Requirements: Candidates must be willing to float to Aspirus Merrill, Wausau, Medford, and Stanley.

9 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 3 years
