About the Organization

St. Elara Medical Center is recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality orthopedic outpatient care. We are expanding our reach into affiliated Assisted Living Facilities, pioneering a model that emphasizes individualized care. Our multidisciplinary team consists of skilled Physical Therapists, Orthopedic Physicians, Occupational Therapists, and Chiropractors who collaborate to ensure comprehensive treatment plans tailored to meet each resident's needs.

Work Environment

The work environment at St. Elara Medical Center is dynamic, compassionate, and patient-centered. As a PTA, you will find yourself immersed in the daily lives of residents, providing therapy in a non-clinical setting that prioritizes comfort and individual attention. Your role will enable you to establish strong connections with residents, caregivers, and facility staff, fostering a collaborative atmosphere dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes. You will utilize a mobile Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system that allows for efficient documentation and progress tracking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans developed by licensed Physical Therapists with precision, focusing on improving mobility and supporting orthopedic recovery in residents within ALFs.
  • Provide one-on-one care with empathy and attention to detail, while ensuring a patient-first approach in every interaction.
  • Monitor patient progress and document responses to treatment, ensuring detailed reporting aligns with care objectives.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team focused on coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes, aligning therapy goals with individual needs.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents and foster collaboration with caregivers and facility staff to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using our user-friendly mobile EMR system, ensuring compliance and ease of information sharing.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work directly with older adults residing in assisted living facilities, providing essential physiotherapy services tailored to their unique health needs. This population often requires specialized care to maintain their independence, cope with limitations, and achieve personal mobility goals. Your ability to connect with these individuals on a personal level will enhance both their rehabilitation experience and overall satisfaction with care.

Qualifications

  • An active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey is required.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is essential for understanding the principles of physical therapy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work with varying levels of independence while being part of a broader clinical team.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and adaptability skills are crucial as you balance diverse responsibilities.

Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a PTA is preferred, ideally in outpatient, geriatrics, homecare, ALF, or skilled nursing facility settings.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and documentation practices.
  • A passion for advocating for seniors’ independence and dignity through effective therapy techniques.
