What You Need to Know

We’re looking to add a Sr Manager, Business Development Strategy to our Business Development team. The Senior Manager, Business Development Strategy supports HWP’s new business efforts by owning and advancing a defined portion of the sales pipeline. This role is focused on driving both existing-client expansion and new-client opportunities, with responsibility for prospecting, opportunity development, and progressing deals toward close. Operating under the direction of the EVP, Business Development & Growth Strategy , this role leads assigned pursuits, contributes to pitches and proposals, and is accountable for achieving a defined sales target tied to overall growth goals.

What You’ll Do

  1. New Business Strategy & Pipeline Ownership
  • Own an assigned portion of the new business pipeline across existing-client expansion and new-client opportunities, executing against sales targets and overall growth goals
  • Apply the HWP sales playbook consistently to manage opportunities from qualification through close
  1. Prospecting & Opportunity Development
  • Identify and pursue qualified prospects through outbound outreach and inbound opportunity follow-up
  • Support discovery conversations to understand client needs and assess opportunity fit
  • Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and pipeline updates
  1. Pitch & Proposal Support

  • Lead assigned components of pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, partnering with senior growth leaders on positioning, messaging, and content
  • Coordinate internal contributors to ensure timely, high-quality submissions of new business proposals and presentations
  1. Commercial Alignment & Handoff
  • Support clean handoff of won business to account teams, ensuring scope and commercial terms are clearly communicated.
  • Assist in aligning internal teams prior to kick off to maintain deal integrity
  1. Performance & Accountability
  • Track progress against individual sales targets and assigned pipeline goals, using performance data to identify risks, stalled opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Provide regular updates to senior growth leadership on opportunity status and outcomes

What You’ll Have

  • Experience supporting or leading new business pursuits in a professional services or agency environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and advance a sales pipeline through disciplined follow-up, strong organization, and accountability across multiple opportunities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience contributing to pitches, proposals, and client-facing materials
  • Strong judgment in qualifying opportunities and focusing effort on deals with clear potential
  • Comfort working cross-functionally to coordinate inputs, align teams, and keep opportunities on track
  • Basic financial understanding related to scoping, pricing, and commercial considerations
  • Comfort working with pipeline data, forecasts, and performance metrics to track progress and identify risks
  • Professional, confident communicator who can engage prospects and internal teams effectively
