Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Rehabilitation Technician provides support to the physical, occupational and/or speech therapy team assisting with the provision of rehabilitative care and completing clerical duties that support daily operational efficiency. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed staff member, the rehabilitation technician will perform patient care therapeutic procedures assigned by the therapist and in which competency has been established. Duties supporting operations include cleaning and maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, scheduling patients and other clerical tasks as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • One year of college coursework toward a rehabilitation degree preferred.

  • Course work in anatomy and kinesiology classes desirable.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures and medical terminology.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the hospital and/or outpatient setting.

  • Knowledge of rehabilitation services and their role in recovery from injury, surgery and illness.

  • Background in sports performance through active participation, coaching and/or training (Outpatient locations).

Skills:

  • Ability to recognize distress signs and other unusual conditions during therapy.

  • Ability to read, write and speak in the English language.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a strong sense of teamwork.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and effectively manage and prioritize conflicting demands.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor while assisting in the delivery of care for all patient populations.

  • Ability to follow isolation procedures including wearing isolation masks when indicated

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
