Full job description

Join Levindale Hospital's Float Pool team as a Nurse Technician supporting both the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and High Intensity Care Unit (HICU). This role provides an opportunity to deliver hands-on, patient-centered care across two specialized clinical environments while supporting the hospital's operational and patient care needs.

The Float Pool Nurse Technician is a clinically skilled team member who adapts quickly to changing priorities and provides essential support to nurses and interdisciplinary teams. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy variety, teamwork, and caring for patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort measures
Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities
Perform IV placement under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff
Perform Foley catheter insertion, maintenance, and care according to established standards
Conduct EKGs and report abnormal findings promptly to the nursing team
Perform phlebotomy for laboratory specimen collection
Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations
Recognize and report changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse and care team
Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients
Support admissions, transfers, and discharges
Assist nursing staff with patient care needs in both BHU and HICU settings
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to support positive patient outcomes
Demonstrate flexibility while floating between BHU and HICU based on staffing and patient care needs

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

Current Maryland CNA II license required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required

Experience

2-3 years of patient care experience preferred
Experience in behavioral health, acute care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or other high-acuity environments preferred

Skills

Basic computer and electronic medical record documentation skills
Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Pay Range: $20.00 to $27.29 Based On Experience
