Position Overview

Velocity Physical Therapy is on the lookout for an innovative and dedicated Orthopedic Physical Therapist to join our team in sunny Sarasota, Florida. This full-time position is critical in providing high-quality rehabilitation services to our patients, ensuring effective communication with families and the healthcare team, and maintaining accurate medical records. Work Environment

This onsite role involves working Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM within our dynamic hospital facility. As part of our team, you will engage with a diverse patient population, utilizing the latest rehabilitation techniques and tools to assist in their recovery processes. Our physical therapy department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, enabling you to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial evaluations of patients within 24 hours of physician referrals, documenting any necessary delays.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Administer treatments in accordance with established best practices, continually assessing and adjusting plans based on patient response.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants during patient treatments, ensuring adherence to the state practice act and facility protocols.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient conditions and progress.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary Patient Care Conferences to discuss patient progress and discharge planning.
  • Conduct in-service training for facility staff on best practices and new developments in physical therapy.
  • Document evaluations and treatment progress accurately to comply with regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  • Engage patients' families in the discharge process, equipping them with necessary skills to assist in ongoing rehabilitation at home.
  • Facilitate the provision of durable medical equipment to promote patient independence post-discharge.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients undergoing orthopedic rehabilitation, including post-operative recovery, sports injuries, and chronic pain management. You will be closely working with individuals ranging from young athletes to older adults, tailoring your approaches to fit their unique needs and rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Florida.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
  • A proactive attitude and ability to multitask in a busy environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting, with hands-on expertise in exercise prescriptions, manual therapy techniques, and rehabilitation for athlete populations.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitive, between $90,000 and $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
