Location: NYC (Hybrid – at least 3 days onsite/week)

we are looking for a Senior Java / API Developer to support a financial services client on a new initiative focused on building an external pricing API for the Sales desk.
The objective is to develop a Java-based solution enabling Sales teams to respond to client pricing requests in near real time. The application will connect to existing pricing engines and services through APIs, retrieve pricing information, and generate outputs for downstream and client-facing applications.
This is a senior, business-facing position requiring strong technical expertise combined with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Keys Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Java-based pricing services and APIs
- Build and integrate REST APIs with internal pricing engines and downstream systems
- Contribute to the overall application and integration architecture
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and solutions
- Work closely with Sales, Trading, IT, and other technology teams
- Understand pricing workflows and support near-real-time client pricing requests
- Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Provide technical leadership and potentially support more junior developers as the team grows
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings
- Bachelor degree in Computer science, Engineering, Finance or Quantitative finance
- 8–10+ years of software development experience
- Strong Java development expertise

- Strong understanding of application and integration architecture
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
- Capital Markets experience
- Good understanding of Equity products, particularly options and derivatives
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

- Experience with electronic pricing or real-time pricing applications
- Experience integrating with pricing engines
- Previous experience supporting Sales or Trading desks
- Technical leadership or mentoring experience
