Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated rehabilitation team at Athletics Therapy Center in Arlington, Virginia. In this full-time role, you will be vital to supporting patients in their recovery journey, using your expertise to foster independence and enhance their quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Implement and carry out individualized rehabilitative care plans that have been developed by licensed Physical Therapists, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
- Assist residents with therapeutic exercises tailored to their unique needs, focusing on mobility training, strength building, and functional movements to enhance their daily activities.
- Monitor and track patient progress meticulously, documenting changes in condition and communicating findings promptly to the multidisciplinary team during scheduled meetings.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise routines, safety practices, and wellness techniques to support ongoing recovery beyond the facility.
- Maintain impeccable documentation standards per regulatory requirements, contributing to the overall care planning process to ensure comprehensive treatment for each resident.
- Create a nurturing, motivating environment that encourages patients to engage actively in their recovery journey, fostering strong rapport and trust.
Patient Population / Client Focus
As a PTA at our facility, you will work with a diverse patient population, primarily focusing on elderly residents who are navigating the challenges of recovery after surgery, rehabilitation from strokes, or long-term physical limitations. Your role will be critical in understanding and addressing their unique needs, providing not only physical support but also emotional encouragement throughout their rehabilitation process.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from a CAPTE-accredited program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
- Active Virginia PTA license or eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- A genuine commitment to providing superior patient care and an empathetic approach toward addressing the needs of the elderly population.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience working in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong background in geriatric therapy and knowledge of the therapeutic modalities used in rehabilitation settings.
- Experience in patient documentation systems and familiarity with electronic health records.
Compensation and Benefits
