Full job description
About Giga
Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
Why join Giga
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What you'll do
As BIM Modeler, Structural, you'll own the structural model on Giga's AI data center projects — foundations, steel, module frames, and equipment pads that everything else in the build sits on. You'll work in both Revit and AutoCAD, translating CAD deliverables from partners and EPC contractors into the federated Revit model and back out again where required, since that translation is core to the job, not an afterthought. You'll build the structural side of our BIM capability rather than maintain someone else's, creating the families, templates, and standards Giga uses on the next campus. Expect to coordinate directly with structural Engineers of Record, electrical and mechanical engineers, procurement, and site crews, checking your anchor bolt layouts against transformers we're already building in our own factory.
Where you'll work
This role is based out of our Houston, TX design engineering office, working alongside the BIM Lead and the rest of the BIM/VDC team. We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. That said, we will consider remote for truly exceptional talent who can demonstrate the modeling depth this role requires; if you're the right person, we'll have a conversation about what works.
Responsibilities
- Model the structural discipline in Revit — structural steel framing, module and skid base frames, equipment support steel, platforms, and guarding
- Model foundations, equipment pads, embeds, and anchor bolt setting plans for heavy equipment, coordinated directly against equipment general arrangement drawings
- Verify anchor bolt and stub-up locations against equipment GAs before pour and before shop release
- Model structural framing for enclosures, e-houses, and the GigaPod / GigaBase module products at fabrication-ready detail
- Model outdoor structural scope — bus supports, cable trench, equipment platforms, bollards, and fencing
- Convert incoming AutoCAD structural drawings and partner deliverables into native Revit geometry, and produce CAD output back out where required, keeping both in sync
- Maintain the structural model within the federated model set, run Navisworks clash detection, and resolve structural-side conflicts rather than just reporting them
- Produce structural drawing packages — foundation plans, framing plans, sections, embed and anchor bolt layouts — and issue through project gates (30/60/90%, IFA, IFP, IFC)
- Build and maintain the parametric Revit family library for repeatable structural content so future projects start from validated content
Requirements
- 5+ years modeling structural scope in Revit for industrial, energy, substation, or mission-critical projects; commercial or residential experience alone will not transfer
- Expert-level Autodesk Revit, including Revit Structure, family creation, parametric content, worksharing, and shared coordinates
- Strong AutoCAD fluency — genuinely comfortable moving work in both directions between AutoCAD and Revit without losing accuracy
- Demonstrated experience with foundations, equipment pads, and anchor bolt or embed layouts for heavy equipment
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, and AISC 360
- Able to read and work from structural calculations, geotechnical reports, and equipment general arrangement drawings
- Navisworks proficiency, including running clash tests and resolving interference in your own models
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Bonus points
- Data center or mission-critical experience — multi-block campuses, power train structures, high-density equipment support
- Substation structural work — equipment foundations, bus supports, dead-end structures, oil containment
- Modular or prefabricated work where the model drives a factory build and gets reused rather than redrawn
- Steel detailing exposure — Advance Steel, Tekla Structures, or SDS/2
- Dynamo or Revit API scripting to automate repetitive modeling and QA
How We Work
We value people who take ownership, raise risks early, communicate directly, and follow through. Incomplete information is part of the job. Make the best decision you can, document it, and adjust as the facts change. Move quickly on reversible decisions and take more care when security, safety, financial, employee, or customer risk is involved.
Benefits
- Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
- Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
- 401(k) with 4% employer match
- Unlimited PTO
- Parental leave
- Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Commuter benefits, where applicable
- Opportunities to collaborate in person at periodic team and company on-sites
