As a Float RN, youll provide exceptional care across a variety of inpatient units, expanding your clinical expertise while supporting one of the nations leading academic medical centers.

Role Highlights

Float across 65+ inpatient units

at Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Full-time, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)$15/hour Float Differential

plus applicable shift differentials

Every third weekend and three holidays per year

Broad exposure to diverse patient populations and specialties

Nurses with ICU experience may float to additional high-acuity and critical care areas

Qualifications

Required

Current RN license

Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical nursing experience

Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills

Ability to work independently in a variety of clinical settings

Preferred 2 years of recent ICU/Critical Care experience

BSN or currently enrolled in a BSN program

Previous float pool experience

To provide the hospital with an additional source of Registered Nurses for use by all patient care areas within Barnes-Jewish Hospital. To provide staffing support that accommodates changes in patient census and acuity. To augment staffing needs during unscheduled ETO when other staffing options are not available. To assist in the cost effective utilization of nursing personnel to promote the delivery of quality patient care.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.

Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.

Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.

Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
