Position Overview
Velocity Wellness & Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic clinical team in Oakland, California. This full-time position will entail working on-site within a hospital environment, where you will play a crucial role in implementing treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Your hands-on contributions will directly assist our patients in their recovery journey, enhancing their mobility and quality of life.

As a PTA, you will be part of a collaborative team that includes licensed Physical Therapists, administrative staff, and rehabilitation aides. Working Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, you will engage with patients in a bustling but organized environment, contributing to their healing and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Assisting licensed Physical Therapists in conducting initial patient evaluations by performing tests and measurements, documenting findings, and communicating relevant updates regarding each patient's condition.
Implementing prescribed therapy plans effectively by administering various therapeutic modalities, exercises, and rehabilitation techniques delegated by the supervising therapist.
Monitoring patient progress and making necessary adjustments to treatment methods based on patients’ responses, reporting these changes to the supervising therapist in real-time.
Recognizing and responding to patients’ physical and mental status changes, providing timely feedback to the therapist to adapt care as needed.
Coordinating with other healthcare team members to integrate a holistic approach to treatment, optimizing pathways for patient recovery.
Participating in clinical meetings to facilitate communication and enhance coordinated patient care strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on outpatient patients who are recovering from surgeries, injuries, or chronic conditions requiring physical rehabilitation. This diverse patient group may include athletes returning to sport, post-operative patients, and elderly individuals working to regain strength and mobility. You will have the opportunity to build rapport with patients and their families, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout their recovery process.
Qualifications
To be considered for the PTA position at Velocity Wellness & Physical Therapy, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field, and completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Active Physical Therapy Assistant licensure in the state of California.
Current National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association, acquired within 30 days of hiring.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable outpatient setting is required, candidates with hands-on experience in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy will be preferred. Demonstrated competency in physical therapy techniques, as well as previous exposure to electronic health records (EHR) systems, will position candidates favorably within the application process.
Compensation and Benefits
Velocity Wellness & Physical Therapy offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience, alongside an attractive benefits package, which includes:
