Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Advises students on the curriculum, course selection, and schedule planning; and helps manage career and professional trade-offs throughout their program of study.
- Communicates policies, and administrative and academic requirements, to ensure successful progression to degree completion.
- Advises students in managing personal, professional, and academic challenges that impact academic performance and progress.
- Manages a portfolio of academic support responsibilities and their administrative processes.
- Develops and provides content support for academic advising through videos, websites, and email.
- Supports online advising tools, including the Program of Study Tool, the bidding system, Slate student success, and curriculum web pages.
- Delivers area-specific presentations to current and incoming students.
- Works directly with faculty to develop advising content and course recommendations.
- Liaise between students, faculty, and other Chicago Booth programs, centers, and support units.
- Supports students with disability accommodation, including proctoring exams; and assists with student intake, short-term, and unique disability management.
- Completes special or seasonal projects and performs additional duties as assigned.
- Conducts regular meetings with students to discuss academic programs, choice of major, academic progress and career goals. Facilitates students' progress towards the degree.
- Advises students with minor academic difficulties and counseling while responding to queries from faculty, staff and parents.
- Performs other related work as needed.

- Responsible and progressive experience in higher education with a focus in academic advising.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Technical and data analysis skills.

- Proven outstanding interpersonal skills that encourage teamwork, engagement and trust with students, faculty and other Chicago Booth offices required; ability to balance empathy with consistent application of policies/procedures; excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
- Prioritize and work independently with initiative to meet deadlines and solve problems.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organization.
- Demonstrate good judgment and work effectively during seasonal high volume.
- Maintain and safeguard student confidentiality.
- Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods, including in person, email, and phone.
- Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.
Working Conditions
- This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
- Work on-site during evening and weekend hours, including Saturday rotations and support for evening students as necessary.
