Eighteen are FOX Network affiliates, and together the stations produce approximately 1,300 hours of local news every week. KDFW FOX 4—the ratings leader in the #4 media market in the nation—is moving into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. To maintain seamless live newscast operations at our current facility while permanent staff train on systems at the new site, we are seeking experienced, temporary candidates to fill News Production Director, Master Control Technician, Production Technician, and Production Automation Technician roles for an 8-week assignment. Production Automation Technician (Temporary 8-Week Assignment)
The Responsibilities
- Automated Control Room Operations: Expertly operate the Sony ELC Production Automation System, production switcher, audio console, and robotic camera systems (including camera shading) during live broadcasts.
- Collaborative News Execution: Work directly alongside Producers, Studio Technicians, and Control Room Technicians to build and drive fast-paced, high-volume newscasts while ensuring total equipment reliability.
- Studio & Technical Support: Perform essential studio duties and maintain floor readiness across live productions.
- Agile Multi-Tasking: Seamlessly handle shifting technical priorities and late-breaking rundown changes in a high-demand market.
- Transition Support: Perform other operational duties as assigned to assist the engineering and production teams throughout the move.
Key Requirements
- Education: 2-year technical degree in Electronics or IT required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Industry Experience: 1 year of experience in one or more relevant roles: Production Automation Technician, Director, Technical Director, Production Technician, or Master Control Technician.
- Systems & Software: Working knowledge of Windows OS, iNews, and core industry broadcast software applications.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on proficiency with production automation system, production switchers, audio boards, and robotic camera operation/shading.
- Professional Attributes: Strong multi-tasker, clear communicator, collaborative team player, and calm under live-air pressure.
- Availability: Must be flexible to work variable schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as news demands require.
Work Schedule & Assignment Length
- Duration: 8 weeks (Temporary, Full-time)
- Shifts: Variable (Includes nights, weekends, and holidays)
