DevOps Lead/Configuration Manager

The Digital Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a DevOps Lead Configuration Manager to work in our Baltimore, Maryland office.  This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) modernize its legacy Contact Center CRM platform within the CMS AWS Enclave and Pega Cloud for Government.    

Primary Responsibilities

 

The DevOps Lead/Configuration Manager shall manage all activities related to CI/CD, environment configuration, and cloud infrastructure supporting the CRM modernization effort.

 

Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

• Lead DevOps and configuration management activities for the CRM modernization effort within the CMS AWS Enclave (FedRAMP Moderate) and Pega Cloud for Government (PCFG) deployed in AWS GovCloud US-West.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment across all applicable environments.
• Support and optimize the existing AWS infrastructure supporting operations, ensuring performance, availability, and SLA compliance (≥99.9% uptime) are maintained throughout modernization.
• Establish and manage secure connectivity between the CMS AWS Enclave and Pega Cloud for Government, including VPC configuration, AWS PrivateLink, API Gateway, and Direct Connect.
• Manage configuration baselines, environment provisioning, and release governance across all various SDLC environments.
• Own the Definition of Done criteria related to build, integration, and security scanning; ensure all releases meet CMS CCB-approved change requirements.
• Implement autoscaling, self-healing, and zero-downtime maintenance and upgrade capabilities consistent with CMS's cloud-native modernization objectives.
• Support Multi-AZ/Multi-Region architecture and disaster recovery/rollback capability, including maintenance of contingency and backup infrastructure.
• Coordinate with the CMS Hybrid Cloud Team on all cloud environment management activities, in accordance with the CMS Environments support model and shared responsibility model.
• Support the AWS data integration pipeline (e.g., AWS Glue, Lambda, S3, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL) supporting data migration, batch processing, and reporting workloads.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to ensure consistent, repeatable environment configuration and deployment.
• Support security posture and continuous monitoring in alignment with FedRAMP Moderate, Zero Trust, and CMS ATO requirements, including IAM (SSO, RBAC, LDAPaaS).
• Coordinate performance testing and tuning activities to validate the platform's ability to scale to 20,000 concurrent CSR sessions and peak Open Enrollment Period (OEP) volumes.
• Manage release coordination and change windows, ensuring maintenance activities avoid disruption during OEP and other critical periods.
• Collaborate with the Release Train Engineer, Solution Architect, and Agile delivery teams to align environment readiness and release schedules with sprint and PI planning.
• Support vulnerability remediation, patch management, and continuous security monitoring across the AWS and Pega environments.
• Maintain observability and centralized logging across the AWS and Pega environments to support proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Support integration of Genesys Cloud CX infrastructure with the modernized CRM environment.
• Document configuration management processes, environment architecture, and release procedures to support the Transition-Out Plan and audit readiness.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and DevOps team members, assessing workload distribution and driving issue resolution.
• Communicate technical status, risks, and dependencies to CMS leadership and Leidos management.
• Actively participate in planning sessions, requirements gathering activities, design sessions, Agile sessions, and other events supporting the CRM modernization effort.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or configuration management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience supporting highly available Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure based on industry best practices and the AWS Well-Architected Framework
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
• Experience leading technical teams and communicating effectively with both technical staff and senior stakeholders
• Ability to obtain Public Trust

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• AWS Solutions Architect Certification
• Experience with AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments
• Experience supporting Pega Cloud for Government (PCFG) or similar SaaS platform connectivity (e.g., AWS PrivateLink, VPC peering)
• Experience with configuration management of cloud-based resources in a Zero Trust environment
• Ability to write scripts in an administrative language (Python, PowerShell, or Shell)
• Experience supporting federal contact center or other 24x7 mission-critical government systems

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
