Requirements

- BLS Certification

- 1-3 years hospital or medical office experience
- Phlebotomy skills preferred

Essential Functions
- Prepare examination rooms and patient charts.
- Escort patients to rooms; prepare patients for examinations.
- Accurately record height, weight and blood pressure from the patient visit; chart or enter in electronic health record and graph findings.
- Ask patient or guardian about reason for visit and document.
- Prepare charts for upcoming patient visits with proper paperwork necessary for the visit.
- Perform vision and hearing screenings as requested by Physician or provider.
- Assist physicians and physician extender(s) as needed with sick visits, preventive care visits, and paperwork preparation, as needed.
- Clean and restock rooms and equipment as needed on a daily basis by end of day.
- Assist with securing referrals and making specialist or test appointments.
- Relay messages to patients as may be required by physicians or physician extender(s).
- Assist the front desk staff as necessary with answering phones and filing.
- Perform phlebotomy by venipuncture or finger stick.
- Prepare for urine culture and analysis.
- Prepare for and run strep tests and all other laboratory tests.
- Assist physicians, physician extender(s) and nurses with procedures.
- Prepare instruments for autoclave.
- Assist with bringing charts to and from the front desk if applicable.
- Prepare new patient charts.
- File patient visit documents and notes.
- Support the front desk with Receptionist responsibilities.
- Document within the electronic health record (EHR) accurately and thoroughly, when available.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma is required. Attended a Medical Assistant accredited program.
- A Medical Assistant certification is required or proven work experience as a Medical Assistant.
- A BLS Certification is required
- 1-3 years Work experience in a hospital setting or medical office preferred
- Phlebotomy experience preferred (Medium proficiency)
- Medical Records System (Medium proficiency); EPIC preferred
- Taking Vitals (High proficiency)
