Work Environment

This role is conducted onsite within a hospital setting, providing a dynamic and supportive atmosphere for both staff and patients. You will be working Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate patient needs or clinic operations. This arrangement ensures a balanced work-life integration while allowing staff to deliver consistent, attentive care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in delivering individualized treatment plans, focusing on enhancing patients' mobility, strength, and functional abilities through specialized therapeutic interventions.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities aimed at promoting physical well-being and pain relief, meticulously tracking progress and adjusting routines as necessary.
• Educate patients on body mechanics, exercise techniques, and home exercise programs, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery journey.
• Administer modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy as directed, ensuring each patient benefits from effective pain management strategies.
• Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including measuring range of motion, strength improvements, and overall functional advancements in recovery.
• Maintain organized treatment areas, ensuring that all therapeutic equipment and supplies are readily available, thus optimizing therapy sessions.
• Engage collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, to coordinate holistic patient care and maximize treatment outcomes.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement throughout the rehabilitation process, fostering a motivating environment that enhances patient engagement and satisfaction.
• Adhere to ethical and professional standards, ensuring confidentiality, respect for patient rights, and high-quality care practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work with a diverse patient demographic, including geriatric patients requiring post-operative rehabilitation, children recovering from sports injuries, and individuals searching for relief from chronic pain conditions. Your ability to tailor treatment strategies to meet the unique needs of each patient is essential in achieving optimal outcomes and improving their daily lives.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New York.
• Strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions related to physical therapy.
• Proficient in administering therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of a Physical Therapist.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
• A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating a genuine desire to facilitate patient rehabilitation and empowerment.
• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management capabilities, essential for monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in an inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation facility is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems for tracking patient data and progress is advantageous.
• Participation in continuing education seminars or workshops related to physical therapy practice.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this full-time position is between USD 50,000 and 70,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
