An Environmental Service (EVS) attendant at a convention center
maintains the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the facility before, during, and after large-scale events
. This includes routine janitorial work, event space setups, and delivering excellent customer service to attendees.
Core Responsibilities
- Event Setup & Teardown: Assist with physically moving and arranging tables, chairs, staging, and linens for conventions, meetings, and trade shows.
- Routine Cleaning: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, and polish furniture in lobbies, concourses, and meeting rooms.
- Restroom Maintenance: Continuously monitor and clean public restrooms, restock paper products and soap, and empty trash.
- Waste Management: Empty wastebaskets, collect debris and recyclables from aisles, and transport large bins to facility dumpsters.
- Safety & Hazards: Remove spills, debris, and potential hazards promptly to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Guest Assistance: Direct attendees, answer facility-related questions, and provide a welcoming presence during events.
Qualifications & Requirements - Physical Stamina: Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, bend, and frequently lift items.
- Equipment Proficiency: Willingness to learn and operate commercial cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
- Flexibility: Availability to work irregular shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to match event schedules.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
