Full job description
At Levindale's 40-bed High Intensity Care Unit (HICU), no two days are the same. Our staff works in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment providing expert care to patients recovering from acute brain injuries, respiratory failure, and more. You'll be supported by a full interdisciplinary team-and empowered to grow through our Nursing Career Ladder and robust professional development programs.
Job Summary
Provides safe, age-appropriate, patient-centered care under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), performs patient care procedures within the scope of certification and training, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including total assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
- Monitor, obtain, and accurately document vital signs, intake and output, and other patient observations.
- Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the Registered Nurse.
- Perform IV placement as directed by licensed nursing staff and within the scope of training.
- Perform Foley catheter insertion, maintenance, and catheter care.
- Conduct EKGs and report abnormal findings to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Perform phlebotomy for laboratory specimen collection.
- Assist with patient transfers, repositioning, ambulation, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment by following infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and assist with meeting patient needs.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.
- Participate in hospital orientation, ongoing education, and competency training.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of certification and training.

Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Current Maryland CNA II license required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of patient care experience preferred.
- Successful completion of hospital orientation and required competency training.
- Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical documentation preferred.
Pay Range: $20.00 to $25 Based On Experience
