We're seeking a Genetics/Genomics Technologist to join our growing clinical cytogenetics laboratory. Whether you're building your expertise or looking to expand, you'll play an important role in performing complex cytogenetic testing and delivering high-quality results that directly impact patient diagnosis and care. We're currently offering a $3,500 sign on bonus for this role!

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs genetic/genomic testing in accordance with CAP (College of America Pathologists) standards in an accurate and timely manner. Testing may be of high complexity and may include:
  • Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH)
  • Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
  • Cytogenetic chromosome analysis
  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Pharmacogenomics (PGx)
  • Chromosomal Microarray (CMA)


Results of these tests, which may have significant clinical impact, are obtained through manual and automated processes. This position will operate a range of software and instrumentation requiring manual dexterity, a keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to use good and sound judgment, demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and perform well in supervisor's absence.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays, as required and/or on rotation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well-developed attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in one or more genetics/genomics laboratory processes and knowledge of laboratory practices.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or another accredited four-year degree with equivalent coursework meeting CLIA qualifications for high-complexity testing personnel.
  • One (1) year of experience in a genetics/genomics laboratory.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ASCP certification in cytogenetics, molecular biology, or medical technology.
  • Additional experience as genetics technologist.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
