ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are hiring a Staff Technical Program Manager to build the governance and operations backbone the Apex product delivery organization runs on. In this role, you’ll help scale the organization by improving our project delivery practices, building a best-practice program governance and operations function, and taking ownership of cross-functional initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with leaders across operations, product, and engineering, and with other TPMs at Apex.

You will balance long-term product vision against immediate needs, driving an incremental approach that is metrics and data driven. It will require communicating effectively with leaders across Director and VP level on a regular basis while ensuring that the teams are aligned and stakeholders are aware of key performance indicators.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Own large-scale, cross-organization programs end to end. Break work into deliverable parts, track dependencies, and surface risks with recommended solutions before they become blockers.
  • Act as the connective tissue between business, product, and engineering, from strategy and prioritization through kickoff, tracking, and deployment.
  • Maintain a living portfolio roadmap and run continuous portfolio planning so program-level commitments across squads stay realistic and protected.
  • Build frameworks, playbooks, and escalation paths that define how TPM works with Legal, Compliance, Sales/Pre-Sales, Product Marketing, Vendors, and Relationship Managers, partnering directly with leaders in each group.
  • Own program communications as the single source of truth on progress, risks, and timelines for teams, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Define the KPIs and success metrics for delivery. Collect, analyze, and present the data that makes performance visible.
  • Identify, build, and roll out the tools and processes that let Apex scale delivery, keeping the focus on reliability, automation, and continual improvement.
  • Drive delivery excellence and change management across the organization through a defined roadmap, active stakeholder engagement, and facilitation of program reviews, retrospectives, and operating cadences.
  • Grow the TPM craft at Apex by coaching individuals and teams on program management practice and building out the TPM community.

Education and/or Experience

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management in a dynamic and highly technical environment, with a strong track record in managing multiple complex cross-functional projects in a technology team
  • A track record of influencing without direct authority and building durable working relationships across organizational lines.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to take a data-driven approach to program management: building tools (workflows, custom work intake processes, estimation models), collecting and analyzing data, and driving stakeholder buy-in
  • Excellent verbal and written communications for technical and non-technical audiences with the ability to tailor and deliver communications to all levels of an organization from project teams to executive leadership
  • Expert-level knowledge of project management techniques and tools within various software development methodologies
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and other agile collaboration & work tracking tools (Jira/Linear, Confluence/Notion, Looker/Tableau or SQL, GitHub, Slack, etc.)

Other Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Institute certification (PMP)
  • Scrum Master Certification
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and experience working in a SaaS environment
  • Work experience in the financial industry
