Full job description
Novant Health Pediatrics Blakeney is seeking a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)!
Work Schedule: 4 days a week / Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm - 1-2 Saturday shifts a month
Position is eligible for full-time benefits
The role of the CMA is to coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population.
What We're Looking For:- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement, required.
- Experience:
- Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
- Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
- Additional Skills (required):
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
Job responsibilities include:
- Room patients and prepare them for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history updates, and relevant health information.
- Perform clinical testing, including flu, COVID-19, and other point-of-care tests, following established protocols and procedures.
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures and collect laboratory specimens accurately and safely.
- Complete patient forms, maintain accurate medical records, and facilitate effective communication between patients, providers, and office staff.
- Monitor patients following vaccine administration, observe for adverse reactions, and provide patient education and support as needed.
