Maintenance Mechanic Technician

Are you an experienced Maintenance Mechanic looking for a challenging opportunity in a manufacturing environment? Join our team and play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving equipment used in the production of carpet underlay products. Your expertise will directly impact safety, efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement throughout our facility.

Position Summary

As a Maintenance Mechanic Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment. This hands-on position requires strong mechanical aptitude, advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys solving complex equipment issues and contributing to operational excellence.

Shift: Permanent schedule with start times ranging between 4:00 AM and 12:00 PM, depending on department needs. Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and any shift as required.

Pay

$35.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience


Essential Job Duties

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and rebuild manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery and facility equipment.
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, ladder logic diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Install, align, and replace bearings, sprockets, chains, motors, drives, conveyors, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 480V three-phase electrical systems, motors, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs, modifications, and equipment improvements.
  • Assist with equipment installations, commissioning, and process improvement projects.
  • Operate lifts and powered industrial equipment safely after certification.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support all Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Work effectively with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical Certification required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of electrical maintenance experience.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong understanding of ladder logic and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and replace three-phase motors, motor controls, and VFDs.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience reading and interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Advanced mechanical troubleshooting, rebuilding, assembly, and equipment modification experience.
  • Welding and fabrication experience, including:
    • MIG Welding
    • Stick Welding
    • Plasma Cutting
    • Oxy-Acetylene Torch Operation
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work in a dusty industrial environment.
  • Strong attendance record, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Must provide your own basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.). Company provides power tools.
  • Ability to become certified on forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and VFDs.
  • Ability to make minor PLC programming changes and timer adjustments.
  • Machine shop experience, including manual lathes and milling machines.
  • Panel building experience.
  • Experience running EMT conduit and pulling wire.
  • Pipe fitting and welding experience.
  • Ability to interpret European (German) electrical drawings.
  • Boiler room operations experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Additional trade certifications.
