Job Title: BYU School of Music-Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands, 5-year Fixed Term (renewable)

Position Start Date: June 1, 2027
Required Degree:
Master of Music (MM) in Music Education or Instrumental Conducting
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
A record of successful work with athletic bands
A record of successful work teaching/conducting concert bands
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills
A record of successful collegiate-level athletic band teaching is preferred
A record of success in secondary school band directing experience is preferred
Duties/Expectations:
Rehearse and direct the BYU Cougar Marching Band and ROC (basketball) Bands
Rehearse and conduct a University Band in the Winter semester
Administer the activities, personnel, and instrument/uniform inventory of a large university athletic band program
Teach Marching Band Techniques and other related courses in the School of Music based upon skills and experience
Serve as an ambassador of BYU and the School of Music
Recruit for the BYU Band Program
Work collaboratively with the BYU Director of Bands in the administration of the BYU band program
Serve on department, college, and university committees as assigned
Post-season travel for athletic events
Perform for campus events as needed
