Full job description
School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist
Hourly Rate: $60.00 per hour (based on experience)
Location: Detroit, MI area; Onsite – School Setting
Position Summary
RCM is looking for full or part time school based SLPs to provide therapy services to school students in and around the Detroit, MI area for the 2026/2027 school year. W2 contract, in person at the school locations only.
Schedule / Shift
- School Year: 2026/2027 – Will follow Academic Calendar
- Contract length: School Year
Key Duties
- Assist early elementary general education teachers in facilitating language acquisition skills and sound awareness skills through modeling, lessons, and team teaching
- Act as a liaison between school and home to foster parent involvement
- Participate as a member on intervention team meetings to assist general education teachers with strategies to support children at risk in the area of language acquisition
- Conduct speech/language evaluations and determine eligibility in accordance with the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
- Manage caseload assignment; develop and implement IEPs
- Maintain and submit records and reports in a timely fashion
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication
- Exhibit positive interpersonal skills and work collaboratively
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations
- Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership
- Travel between multiple buildings
Skills
- Minimum of 300 clock hours of supervised practicum experience with persons who present a variety of communication disorders
- Demonstrated skills in assessment and treatment of articulation, language, voice, and fluency impairment
- Willingness to learn district-specific strategies related to language acquisition skills
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology
- Required: Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours of academic credit in normal aspects of human communication, development, and clinical techniques for evaluation and management of speech and language disorders, as described in State rule R340.1796
Licenses & Certifications
- Required: SB endorsement and/or Clinical Competence Certificate
- Additional certifications: State of Michigan certification as a teacher of the speech and language impaired preferred; Early Childhood or Elementary education certification preferred
