On-site in our Cincinnati, OH office
8:30am to 5pm, M-F, Full-time
As an Authorization Coordinator, you'll support a full range of patient services to bring comfort and dignity to our clients.

As an Authorization Coordinator, you will:
Act as a contact telephone liaison person interfacing with referral sources, outside agencies, health professionals and field staff
Receive and coordinate all incoming calls, providing patients/clients and referral sources with basic information to assist in accessing appropriate services
Communicate with patient/client and family regarding arrangements for the initiation of care/services
Complete intake screening, including obtaining, documenting, and analyzing all required information to make a preliminary admission decision
Receive and log referrals. Prepare reports and responses to inquiries. Provide telephonic contact and system data entry for customers seeking care/services
Where permitted by law, receive verbal orders from physicians to initiate care/services
Collect and enter customer information into the management information system
Analyze and verifies patient insurance coverage and determines payer priority for all potential insurance. Communicates coverage information utilizing agency software
Obtain prior insurance authorization for home care services as referred by Intake personnel, sales personnel, or other agency personnel
Review requests made by clinicians and other authorized medical staff for additional authorized units under established guidelines
Initiate prior and post authorization requests via fax transmission, online submission, or telephone contact
Ensure that all prior authorizations and ongoing authorizations documentation, databases and records are maintained clearly, accurately within a timely manner, and meets HIPAA requirements
Adhere to the established criteria and timeframes for processing urgent authorization or referral requests
Ensure that any changes made to the authorization requests or referral forms are submitted directly from the payer via electronically or by fax
Conduct research on authorization requests and handles inquires including researching history for duplications and considerations of authorization limits
To qualify as an Authorization Coordinator with us, you will need:
Education: Associate degree or higher preferred
1+ year Medical Terminology experience
Strong problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and under minimal supervision
Proficient in common office equipment, including Windows PCs with Microsoft Office Suite, Copy/Fax machines, phone systems, etc.
