Mend Force Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our therapy team in Midland Park, New Jersey. In this dynamic hospital environment, the Physical Therapist Assistant will work alongside a team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, physicians, and nursing staff. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with supervising Physical Therapists to implement individualized treatment plans aimed at enhancing strength, balance, endurance, and mobility for our patients.
- Assist patients in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) safely and efficiently, providing hands-on support and instruction as needed.
- Accurately document therapy sessions, capturing patient progress and any changes in condition to inform the ongoing treatment strategy.
- Educate and instruct patients and their caregivers on mobility techniques and home exercise programs that promote independence and recovery.
- Actively participate in team meetings to discuss patient care, treatment effectiveness, and any necessary adjustments to individualized plans.
- Monitor and report on patient progress, making recommendations to the supervising therapist regarding treatment modifications.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The PTA will primarily work with a diverse patient population that includes individuals recovering from surgical procedures, those with chronic conditions, and patients undergoing rehabilitation for various injuries. This role focuses on empowering patients to regain their independence and functional abilities in a supportive hospital environment, promoting mobility and healthy living.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current and active Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of New Jersey.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred, contributing to an advanced understanding of therapeutic practices.
- Strong clinical knowledge combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support patients.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably within a hospital or skilled nursing facility.
- Experience working with a variety of patient populations, including geriatrics and those with neurological impairments, is beneficial.
- CPR and First Aid certification is highly preferred. Additional certifications in geriatrics or rehabilitation practices will enhance candidacy.
