- Coordinate work between machining, welding and fabrication, quality, programming, purchasing, shipping and receiving, and other supporting functions.
JobBOSS, Travelers, and Production Documentation
- Own the accurate and consistent use of JobBOSS for production tracking and daily shop-floor activity.
- Ensure production employees enter labor hours, completed operations, quantities, and job notes accurately and on time.
- Ensure travelers are created and available before work begins, with required operations, work instructions, inspection points, and shipping requirements.
- Maintain accurate job status information and provide quoted-versus-actual labor reporting to the Head of Manufacturing.
- Confirm that completed production documentation is legible, traceable, and routed to the appropriate department.
- Identify missing or unclear drawings, revisions, specifications, routers, or work instructions and escalate them before production proceeds.
Team Supervision, Training, and Communication
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and technical support to machinists, operators, welders, fabricators, shop hands, and other assigned production personnel.
- Set clear expectations for attendance, punctuality, productivity, documentation, quality, safety, and workplace conduct.
- Train employees on approved production processes, JobBOSS requirements, travelers, work instructions, safety practices, and 6S expectations.
- Monitor employee performance and document attendance, conduct, training, or performance issues for review with the Head of Manufacturing.
- Provide input regarding staffing needs, employee development, performance reviews, and candidates for open production positions.
- Support onboarding and cross-training so production coverage is maintained as workload and staffing needs change.
Safety and Workplace Organization
- Maintain a safe working environment for production personnel, staff, OJT participants, students, visitors, and guests.
- Ensure employees follow company safety policies, equipment requirements, personal protective equipment requirements, and established work practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized 6S-based production environment.
- Report safety hazards, damaged equipment, facility issues, and unsafe practices promptly and support corrective action.
Quality and Delivery Support
- Ensure production employees follow approved drawings, travelers, work instructions, inspection requirements, and Quality Management System procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality to confirm that required incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections are incorporated into production activity.
- Identify and report nonconforming product, scrap, rework, missing documentation, and recurring production issues.
- Support containment, root cause review, corrective action, and process-improvement activity when requested.

Performance Monitoring and Escalation
- Track daily production performance, including job status, labor hours, schedule adherence, quoted-versus-actual hours, scrap, rework, and equipment downtime.
- Provide clear production updates and supporting data to the Head of Manufacturing.
- Recommend practical improvements to workflow, setup time, communication, documentation, tooling, training, and use of production resources.
- Escalate customer commitment, pricing, quoting, staffing, quality-system, capital-equipment, and budget decisions to the appropriate department owner or leadership.
