Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join the Preferred Therapy Center team in Syracuse, New York. In this full-time role, you will play a key role in enhancing our patients’ recovery journeys through personalized care and evidence-based therapeutic practices. Work Environment

This position is hospital-based, situated in a well-equipped facility that fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals. Our multidisciplinary team includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, ensuring a cohesive approach to patient care. You will work in a supportive atmosphere that emphasizes both teamwork and individual professional growth. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to accommodate patient needs as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists in implementing customized treatment plans aimed at improving patients’ mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
  • Guide patients in therapeutic exercises, activities, and stretches designed to alleviate pain and promote rehabilitation.
  • Educate patients on proper body mechanics and home exercise regimens to support their recovery.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, including tracking changes in range of motion, physical strength, and functional capabilities.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment areas and ensure therapy equipment is functional and organized.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient care planning and outcomes.
  • Provide emotional support to patients, creating a positive and encouraging environment that fosters motivation.
  • Uphold ethical standards and patient confidentiality while actively respecting their rights and dignity during all interactions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your responsibilities will involve working with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, athletes working on sport-specific rehabilitation, seniors needing assistance with age-related conditions, and children in need of developmental interventions. Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques pertinent to physical therapy.
  • Competence in executing therapeutic exercises, as well as administering modalities under the direction of Physical Therapists.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building rapport with both patients and colleagues.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
