The Athletics Therapy Center is seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team at our hospital facility in Arlington, Virginia. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans formulated by licensed Physical Therapists, providing direct care to patients with a variety of rehabilitative needs.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and other mobility interventions to help enhance their physical abilities and functional independence.
  • Document patient progress meticulously, ensuring clear communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and adjustments to treatment plans.
  • Maintain a safe and motivating therapy environment, equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to engage and support patient rehabilitation efforts.
  • Encourage and motivate patients throughout their therapy sessions, reflecting empathy and understanding while celebrating their small victories.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing and therapy staff to optimize patient care, contributing to interdisciplinary meetings and care discussions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily focuses on older adults and individuals recovering from surgical procedures, strokes, or other medical conditions impacting mobility. You will interact with patients who have a strong desire to regain their independence and improve their quality of life. As a PTA, you will foster a supportive relationship with each patient, tailoring your approach to their unique needs and rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a PTA in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
  • An active Virginia PTA license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working within geriatric care or long-term rehabilitation facilities.
  • Proficiency in using therapy equipment and adaptive devices, as well as electronic documentation systems.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
