Position Overview
BodySync PT is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to enhance our outpatient orthopedic team in the vibrant community of Utica, New York. Work Environment
This role is situated in a hospital environment, allowing you to directly witness and participate in the rehabilitation journey of patients recovering from various orthopedic conditions. You will be working onsite with a team that emphasizes empathy and professionalism, ensuring a supportive atmosphere for patients and staff alike. Your schedule will primarily involve weekdays, specifically from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, providing you with a balance of work and personal time.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at BodySync PT, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Administering direct patient care per the written prescriptions from licensed Physical Therapists or state-authorized practitioners, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
- Documenting treatment sessions and maintaining accurate progress notes and discharge summaries for patients, following departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implementing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and rehabilitation modalities tailored to each patient's unique recovery plan.
- Participating in emergency procedures, ensuring patient safety and appropriate response in critical situations.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives, contributing insights during chart reviews, and actively participating in departmental meetings.
- Occasionally attending family conferences to provide updates on patient progress and treatment plans.
- Performing additional duties as aligned with clinical guidelines and department needs.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your role will significantly impact a diverse client population, predominantly comprising individuals undergoing rehabilitation for orthopedic injuries, post-surgical recovery, and chronic pain management. You will develop therapeutic relationships with patients of all ages, fostering trust and encouraging their participation in the rehabilitation process.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A valid and active PTA license in the state of New York.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- 1-3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, with proficiency in therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and effective communication, especially in high-stress situations.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for efficient documentation and patient management.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, additional credentials such as specialty certifications in areas like manual therapy or sports rehabilitation will be considered advantageous. Experience working in a hospital or outpatient orthopedic setting will also be beneficial.
