Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer – Data Scientist (Level 2 or Level 3) to join its team. This position is in Clearfield, UT in support of ICBM Sustainment’s assessment team.

 

What you will get to do:

As a member of the ICBM-S assessment team, you will get to:

• Analyze failure and performance data across ICBM subsystems.
• Design and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards that provide clear, actionable insight into program performance, risks, and ground systems health.
• Build and automate data pipelines that integrate information from multiple sources into consistent, high-quality views.
• Partner with program managers, engineers, and government stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver decision-focused visualizations.
• Participate and lead risk management of weapon system parts and subsystems.

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This position may be hired at the System Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer levels depending upon applicant qualifications.

 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Systems Engineer (level 2): Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2 years of experience with bachelor’s degree, or 0 years of experience with master’s degree

• Must be a US Citizen with an ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
• 1 year of hands-on experience with data analytics, automation, or coding (e.g., Python, R, or similar).
• 1 year of experience working with large, complex, or multi-source datasets.
• 1 year of experience designing, implementing, and using data models to create reports and visualizations for large data sets.
• 1 year of experience working with and designing relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data pipelines / ETL processes.
• 1 year of experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).

 

Principal Systems Engineer (level 3): Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of experience with bachelor’s degree, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 1 year of experience with PhD

• Must be a US Citizen with an ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
• 3 years of hands-on experience with data analytics, automation, or coding (e.g., Python, R, or similar).
• 3 years of experience working with large, complex, or multi-source datasets.
• 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and using data models to create reports and visualizations for large data sets.
• 3 years of experience working with and designing relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data pipelines / ETL processes.
• 3 years of experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
