Physician, Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon, Miami, Florida, Full-Time
Baptist Health Medical Group (BHMG), part of Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF), the largest healthcare organization in the South Florida region with medical practices spanning from Key West to Palm Beach, is seeking to employ a Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon to join a well-established program at its Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care. The team is comprised of fellowship-trained experts across all heart and vascular specialties and provides minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and manage patients with end-stage heart failure referred for heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support therapies.
Perform adult heart transplantation procedures.
Perform implantation, exchange, and explantation of ventricular assist devices (LVAD, RVAD, BiVAD) and other advanced mechanical circulatory support devices.
Perform complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery, and other cardiac surgeries as appropriate.
Provide perioperative and postoperative management of transplant and cardiac surgical patients.
Participate in donor organ procurement and allocation activities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary heart failure and transplant teams in patient selection and management decisions.
Serve in rotational call coverage for cardiothoracic surgery services.
Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care offers care at all hospitals and multiple specialty centers, including the nationally recognized flagship institutes - Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, and Christine E. Lynn Heart & Vascular Institute
The surgeon will work collaboratively with cardiologists, transplant coordinators, intensivists, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the transplant team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements include MD/DO from an accredited institution, active and unrestrictive medical license (or eligibility for licensure by start date), and satisfactory completion of all required due diligence tasks and credentialing
Board-certified or board-eligible cardiothoracic surgeon with demonstrated expertise in durable LVAD implantation and management, meeting all applicable institutional, regulatory, and OPTN requirements for participation in a heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support program
Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the applicable state.
DEA registration and controlled substance certification as required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
UNOS Certified/Eligible
