Full job description
The Senior Tool and Die Technician is a crucial member of Boyd Allenton's Tooling team. The primary responsibility of this position is the preparation and maintenance of the die-cast tooling necessary for our manufacturing processes. The ability to work as a team and good communication skills are key components for success in this role.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on shot rods, high-pressure die-cast tooling, and trim dies.
• Complete shop paperwork accurately and as directed
• Support production needs by completing any necessary tooling or machining work in accordance with established company procedures
• Fix broken tools, mills, lathes, and grinders
• Make cores tips, fixtures, and slot rods
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Must support and follow the QMS requirements
• Observe all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Perform advanced mathematics and be able to use a calculator
• Must communicate with employees on a professional level at all times
• Basic reasoning skills and language skills (ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business paperwork)
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/requests from managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
• Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and use of a PC
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining company quality standards at all times
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work based on business needs.
• Ability to work under time constraints with changing priorities under minimal supervision
• Must be able to follow directions and work in a team environment.
• Previous tooling experience
Physical Requirements
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch tools, equipment, and/or controls
• Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
• Specific vision abilities are required for this job and include close and distance vision, color, peripheral vision, and ability to focus
