Job Summary and Qualifications
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing individualized, age specific, goal directed care. The RN assesses the needs of the patient/client in order to develop a plan of care and then implements and evaluates the plan. The RN bases the plan of care on current nursing knowledge/skills and institutional methodology. The RN accepts assignments that are commensurate with his/her experience, knowledge and ability. The RN delegates tasks to the licensed and unlicensed personnel according to the Texas Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy.
What you will do in this role:
- Communicate verbally via telephone
- Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
- Communicate in written form
- Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
- Trouble-shoot medical equipment
- Solve problems requiring interpretation
- Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Make judgments to take action which could result in death of patient
- Temperature Changes: variations in temperature from hot to cold
- Wet: frequent contact with water or other liquid
- Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction
- Hazards: conditions where there is danger to life, body and/or health
- Atmospheric Conditions: conditions that affect the skin or respiratory system.
- Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
- Exposed to hazards of handling diseased organs and tissues
- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
- Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
- Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
- May be exposed to bio-hazardous
- Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards
- Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens
- Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards
- Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
- Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
- May be exposed to toxic chemicals
- Exposed to explosive chemicals, gases and low level radiation
- Subject to hazards of flammable, explosive gases
- Subject to burns and cuts
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit environment
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements
- Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Associate Degree
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring, or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
